O prefeito do Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes (PSD), vetou integralmente o projeto de lei que instituía o “Dia da Cegonha Reborn”, uma homenagem às artesãs que confeccionam bonecas hiper-realistas conhecidas como bebês reborn. A data prevista para a celebração era 4 de setembro.
A proposta, aprovada no início do mês pela Câmara Municipal, foi rejeitada oficialmente nesta segunda-feira (2). Em publicação nas redes sociais, Paes compartilhou a imagem do veto com a legenda: “Com todo respeito aos interessados, mas não dá”.
Segundo o vereador Vitor Hugo (MDB), autor do projeto, a iniciativa pretendia reconhecer o trabalho de artesãs que, muitas vezes, encontraram na criação dessas bonecas uma forma de superação emocional. De acordo com ele, os bebês reborn têm sido utilizados em terapias voltadas à recuperação de mulheres em situações de luto ou depressão.
Na justificativa da proposta, os reborn são descritos como bonecos produzidos artesanalmente com alto grau de realismo, com técnicas que simulam características humanas detalhadas, como textura da pele, veias, peso corporal e até batimentos cardíacos simulados.
As bonecas reborn ganharam notoriedade nas redes sociais e em contextos terapêuticos. Em muitos casos, são utilizadas para fins educativos e psicológicos, inclusive no apoio a pacientes com transtornos emocionais.
Um dos exemplos mais conhecidos da repercussão dos reborn nas redes foi protagonizado pela influenciadora Sweet Carol. Em 2022, ela viralizou ao publicar um vídeo em que simulava um parto empelicado com uma boneca reborn. O conteúdo, originalmente veiculado no TikTok, ultraou 115 milhões de visualizações e voltou a circular recentemente no Instagram e YouTube.
Apesar da popularidade crescente dos bebês reborn, o projeto de lei que criava uma data oficial em homenagem às artesãs envolvidas na produção das bonecas foi barrado pelo Executivo municipal.
